Yes, I Am a Jewish Alcoholic
SEVERAL RABBIS still say, "There aren't any Jewish alcoholics." Some of the research on alcoholism even gives reasons that there aren't any Jewish alcoholics. Like most Jewish males, I was circumcised on my seventh day of life (also had my first drink then). In 1947, on Yom Kippur evening, I conducted the "Kol Nidre" services at Harvard University in Sever Hall. (It was the first religious service of any kind held in that building in the 300-year history of Harvard.)
