A Couple of Joes
His name was Joe and he was an alcoholic.
When he was drunk he was longtime drunk. Near the end of a binge he wallowed in filth. It was as if he was being dirty back at a world that had been dirty to him.
(I realize these stories are supposed to be first person. My name is Joe and I am an alcoholic. But the story's not about me. It's about my daddy.)
