A Shocking Coincidence

I am a recovering alcoholic who has been in the AA program since October 1982--just long enough to become complacent with everything that matters! I'm a Canadian, working on a Great Lakes freighter. I spend months at a time away from meetings, fellowship, and family. Until recently, I had begun taking my sobriety for granted. To me, there was only one thing missing from my life. I was looking for a "bolt of lightning" to make everything complete! Often I would say, "If only I could have a spiritual awakening such as Bill W. had!" Other than this, I felt I had graduated from the Twelve Steps.
