We Who Cannot Help Ourselves

Here are some words of experience, strength, and hope from a chronic relapser. My name is Rita and I am an alcoholic. Today is my sobriety day, and it is the only day I can stay sober. I came into the program of Alcoholics Anonymous in April 1987 and have put together about eighteen months of sobriety in those three years. I've been labeled a "classic alcoholic" since I took the first drink. Now, twenty years later, I am still on the bottom because of my drinking.
