A Whirlwind of Excitement
When I was six, I was told that I was adopted. I didn't even know what the word meant. When my mom told me, I was devastated. I didn't believe her at first, but then she started to cry, so I realized that she was telling me the truth. It changed my whole outlook on life. I was messed up enough when I was young--low self-esteem, not fitting in. Now I didn't know what was real and what wasn't, and I carried that around with me for a long time.
