The DMV, Every Day at Noon

The HOme Group<lbHeartbeat of AA

I was in a treatment center in a neighboring town, when my twenty-eight days came to a close. All the meetings I had attended were in this town. They were good, but I really needed meetings in my hometown. As God would have it, on my last day of treatment, as I waited in line to use the bathroom, the guy next to me asked me if I had found a home group yet. I told him, "I know it's important to find one, but I'm not from this town. I live in Santa Cruz." Then he told me that there was a great AA meeting every day in Santa Cruz at the Department of Motor Vehicles. I just busted up laughing. I thought to myself, "The last place this alcoholic wants to be seen is in the DMV! These AA guys are really quite funny. I think I'll like it here."
