Alcoholism is increasing among American women at a more rapid rate than among men, according to a recent statement made to the United Nations World Health Organization by Dr. E. M. Jellinek. The increase is attributed by Dr. Jellinek partly to the growing earning power of American women. "When women compete in the professional field with men," he said, "they tend to adopt some of the outward signs of male culture."
