A Chip Off the Old Block

I was celebrating my AA anniversary far from my home group at a meeting out West, where they have a chip system. When I mentioned it was my 27th AA birthday, they were nonplussed, for they had no chips over 10 years! Someone suggested facetiously they give me two 10s and a 7. Instead, the chairperson suddenly said, "Here's just the one!" and handed me a bronze chip in a cellophane envelope.

When I examined it, I agreed it was perfectly appropriate. It read, "One Day at a Time."
