Sunday Morning, Dec. '44 Began The montreal Miracle

IT was long distance. Montreal calling. It was a professor friend of mine who had no alcoholic problem. His urgent early morning call was the fruit of a casual talk I had with him about AA some months before. His brother-in-law, Jack, a competent engineer when sober, was missing. Could I help. I was not optimistic but I said I'd try.

I only knew two AA members in Chicago. It was a mighty cold trail. Dick, I thought, was my best bet. . .he was still on a big pink cloud and would try anything.
