AA in the Age of Show Business

I have been patting myself on the back lately. I've managed to keep a promise that I made to myself about three years ago that I've been at times sorely tempted to break. What I've done is to manage to stick with a meeting through thick and thin--when the attendance has been abundant or almost nothing, when the sobriety and maturity have been great or small, and with all combinations of the above. When I moved back into town nearly four years ago, there were perhaps forty people attending this meeting. Of those forty I'm the only one left, other than a few wanderers from the old days who might catch it once a month or so. Otherwise, it's an entirely new group--and I use the word "group" advisedly. Our meeting may become a group sometime in the future, but for now it's simply a meeting that happens to have a group service number with the General Service Office.
