Nice Jewish Girls Don't Go to Prison

Unless they find out, as this woman did, that they are also alcoholics who've gotten into trouble

I grew up in a typical American household--Mom was the homemaker and Dad went out to work. We celebrated all the Jewish holidays, and I don't remember that alcohol was ever a problem at any of the family functions. However, I do remember my father drinking a lot and keeping his alcohol on a shelf above the telephone in the kitchen--and that was offlimits for us.

I had my first drunk at my brother's wedding when I was fourteen. The wedding was at a fancy Jewish country club in Houston, Texas. I threw up on my dress. My mom was not happy with me, and I was sent home.
