Yes, Ma'am! Yes, Ma'am! One Day at a Time

Every link in the chain matters

I first met Julian S. at our local AA clubhouse when I was completing my first ninety days. He stood in the entryway, shuffling nervously from one foot to another, dressed in threadbare army fatigues and combat boots. Cheerful and smiling, he greeted each person who entered with a "Yes, sir! Yes, sir! One day at a time" or a "Yes, ma'am! Yes, ma'am! One day at a time." I shook his hand and felt immediately warmed by his presence.
