Keeping faith and trust on board

I joined the Navy in September 1983, from my hometown of Costa Mesa, California. I had been sober for about sixteen months. You see, I had wanted to join the Navy for several years, but couldn't imagine going through boot camp without a drink. Sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous gave me the freedom to go anywhere and do anything I wanted to do.
