May Our Blessings Never Spoil Us

Tradition 12 - Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.

But Tradition Twelve is the rock upon which we have built our Society. If it is not substantially secure, we surely face significant danger. Our greatest danger lies within each of us.

As we all know, recovering alcoholics pass through many stages of acceptance and understanding. It is the comfort of anonymity that eases the fear and allows newcomers freedom to join us. Newly recovered alcoholics are still very close to past guilts and mistakes. Losing their anonymity in the beginning can be a traumatic thing, both personally and professionally.
