A every meeting, the old-timer who helped start the Step and Traditions study group I've attended since the beginning of my sobriety would repeat: "The Steps are for the individual and the Traditions are for the groups." Then he would share about the Tradition. Much as I valued his experience, wisdom, and hope about everything alcoholic, back then I was impatient about wasting time to clarify principles by which groups were supposed to run themselves.
