The spark that kept me going

A vet reunites with his son after 61 years

In my 51 years of sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous, I've heard and witnessed many miracles, beyond the beautiful miracle of obtaining and maintaining a wonderful daily life without booze.

I came into the program in Sacramento, completely beat, bankrupt in all areas--physically, mentally and spiritually. As a complete and hopeless drunk, I had no idea or foresight that I would find, accept and be able to live a life of sobriety. I was surrounded by people who loved me, nurtured me, fed me spiritually and, above all, gave me a love I had never known. It was the spark that kept me going throughout the years.
