No Quick Fix

A story about love, pain, and sharing

I was around aa for about fifteen years before I got into it. For a long time, I believed AA was a great program. It seemed to work for a lot of people; it just wouldn't work for me.

This time, for whatever reason, I finally came to the conclusion that I would never be able to stop drinking, and I had nowhere else to turn--except AA. I started attending meetings and I joined a group. I got a sponsor. But, for some reason, when I got together with him, we would talk about everything in the world except what was going on inside of me. I would be dying inside, and I would ask, "What are you up to this weekend?" or "What did you think of that car that drove by?"
