Eastern Canada AA hosts forum

Bilingual meeting brings cultures together

The "language of the heart" spoke clearly at the Eastern Canada Regional Forum at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Sept. 17-19, 2010. Presentations and audience participation flowed smoothly due to simultaneous translations into English and French, and English-speaking trustees were soon weaving French terms like "merci" (thank you) and "jem'appelle" (my name is) into their talks.

This forum reflected how well unity could be preserved in a multiple-language gathering. As with every forum where the General Service Board and General Service Office make themselves accessible to the local AA community, concerns and issues surfaced--and were addressed in a spirit of problem-solving and mutual respect.
