A mother's nightmare

She never wanted a drink more than when doctors said her son might have a brain tumor

IN February of 2009, when my son was 9 months old, he woke up with a droopy eyelid. I noticed that his left eyelid was practically closed. I tried to stay calm, but my mind goes to terrible places when I'm scared. I had to wait almost two hours until the doctor's office opened, and by the time it did I was a nervous wreck. I did spend some of that time praying, but only between the internet searches for "droopy eye."

The doctor looked at my son and said it would probably go away on its own. I don't do well with "probably." The doctor told me to wait two weeks. If it didn't go... Login to read more
