No matter how low our bottoms may be, there is always hope

When I hit my bottom, I found myself in a hospital. I had alcohol poisoning. After five days in a coma, I woke up with tubes down my throat. The doctors were keeping me alive on a respirator. They then removed the tubes, and my father was there with a bag of my clothes.

I was handcuffed to my bed and the hospital staff told me that I was a danger to myself. I was soon transferred to a rehab facility where I began a 30-day recovery period. At the time, I was 42 and very scared.
