Never Alone Again

Through an amends to her ex-husband, she found a new family

"If you had my marriage, you would drink too." How many times I have heard AAs repeat that sentiment when speaking about their drinking days and the excuses they used. Like them, I was justifying my drinking and blaming it on the easiest target, my (then) husband.

Fourteen years ago, amidst my active alcoholism, I walked away from my husband, and our 12-year relationship. I left behind our friends, his family – everything. It took me three more years of drinking, isolation and alienation to get sober.
