I had my first drink the night I graduated from high school in May of 1957 in a small town in Kentucky. My father was the pastor of the largest church in our area and at which the principal of the high school was a very active member.
I would sometimes assist him in his capacity as a math teacher. I had already "gone forward" during the "invitation" at the end of a sermon at a previous church where my father pastored in Indiana and declared that God had called me to be a preacher.
