In my early days and early years of sobriety, my sponsor quoted those lines to me repeatedly. I was so full of fear when I came into the Program, that my own shadow gave me the shivers. I did not trust anyone or anything. Not even myself.
I remember having some alcohol left and could not bring myself to pour it down the drain so I kept it in the cupboard. Don't want to waste alcohol, right? But...
