A Greeting Card Life
The 12 Steps helped her adjust her expectations of family
I always wanted a relationship with my dad that was like the ones I saw on Hallmark cards around Father's Day.
My dad brought us up learning to respect others and to have morals. He took us camping, water skiing, to ball games, the ballet, and opera.
When I needed help with my homework, he wouldn't just give me answers, he taught me to try to work it out for myself first. By doing that, he showed me I could eventually figure it out most of the time. If all else failed, he would help me out and then show me what steps to take the next time.
