In AA, she learned how to rebuild her life

I am an alcoholic of many generations. I needed to know how to stop this vicious cycle of alcoholism, and why I was doing the same thing over and over. When I found out that I was basically just an example of self-will run riot, I thought maybe they were talking about all the others, but not me!

What I came to believe was that there was nowhere else to go but to my Higher Power for help. The Big Book said, "We had to quit playing God!" Strong words for a selfish, self-seeking, fearful alcoholic who was not too sure about this thing they called change. The only thing I needed to change was everything! Yikes…
