Painting in early sobriety helped her express the pain she was in from alcoholism

I had my first drunk when I was 13. I remember the immediate high and euphoria that alcohol gave me. The lesson I learned that night was that alcohol unlocked doors to laughter, to freedom, and removed the constraints of a strictly traditional upbringing.

I thought my drinking released my inner creativity and freed my spirit. I did what I wanted, when I wanted, how I wanted with absolutely no regard to how my behavior affected the people in my life.
