A girl who found AA in prison writes her "outside" sponsor a few weeks after her release

Dear Georgiene:

I am going to write this and clarify it in my mind as I go along. I want to share these thoughts with you. You have just now received your present from me and along with it this letter.

(Note: the "present." was an unopened half-pint of whiskey.)

As I write this it is sitting on my dresser along with my hair oil and cologne. It is the same color as my shampoo and it means no more to me than my bottle of shampoo does.
