About Alcoholism - Alcoholism Information, Research and Treatment
Fifty million dollars of the 1967 budget of the National Institute of Mental Health is earmarked for the construction of community mental health centers, which can include, if desired by the community, facilities for alcoholism clinics.
By 1972 it is projected by NIMH that 2,000 such centers will have been constructed across the country.
The National Institute of Mental Health recently was elevated to full government bureau status.
