New Mood-Changers Rate Low With Toronto Teenagers

A five-month survey of drug use among students in metropolitan Toronto schools, conducted under the auspices of the Addiction Research Foundation, led to this conclusion (among others): "It is clear that in terms of number of users, alcohol and tobacco are still the most important drugs. Users of all other drugs are very much in the minority."

Over the four grades surveyed, the percentage of those who had used alcohol at least once in six months rose from 22.9 percent in the lowest grade to 70.9 in the highest.
