Two Types of Health Damage

Changes in gastric contents in 8 human volunteers after ingestion of alcohol were measured by Joseph J. Barboriak and Robert C. Meade of the Marquette School of Medicine. They used a scintillation camera and a multichannel pulse height analyzer to measure the rate of gastric emptying. The results indicate that ingestion of whiskey before a meal retarded the "half time" of gastric emptying by more than one hour.
