Note to Thirsty Ghouls

PETOSKEY, MICH.--Sanitation workers here recently buried 1,400 cases of beer in the city dump.

The action came after a beer truck had a collision with, another truck. The impact ruptured, the beer frock's reserve gas tank, spilling diesel fuel over its cargo. None of the fuel got inside the bottles, but the Michigan Liquor Control Commission ruled the beer couldn't be sold and ordered it buried.

City manager Richard German declined to say whether guards would be posted at the dump.
