About Alcoholism - Alcoholism Information, Research and Treatment
The significance of alcoholism and family conflicts as causes of suicide has doubled since before World War II in Hungary, which has the world's highest suicide rate.
These findings were recently published by New Hungarian Quarterly, an English-language publication.
The number of suicides also rose in the same period, from 2,684 in 1938 to 3,200 in 1967. Alcoholism rose from being the cause in 2.5% of the cases to 5.1%.
