Group Therapy--Theory and Practice

Western Missouri Mental Health Center [has a] combined alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. Each Monday morning, eight persons enter the Kansas City program for a two-week residential program and a one-week partial-hospitalization program. During the first two weeks, the patient receives insight, interrelates with others, examines his or her strengths and weaknesses, and gets vocational counseling. During the third week, the patient gets help in finding housing and jobs. If he does not need this assistance, he is assigned to the Evening Addiction Program to receive support with his transition back into the general community.
