Two Highway Threats

"Ingestion of alcohol by pedestrians is an important factor in severe highway crashes, just as alcohol is important in the injury of drivers and their passengers," writes Prof. Julian Waller of the University of Vermont, in California Medicine.

Of all highway deaths in the U.S., Prof. Waller estimates, 20% are pedestrians; percentages rise in metropolitan areas to put these deaths in the majority.
