Sobering Up Fast
TUCSON, ARIZ.--A researcher at Tucson's Veterans Administration Hospital says he has come up with a drink for the drunk.
Dr. Cleamond D. Eskelson has developed "Alco-de," a mixture of two B vitamins plus Glyceraldhyde and Cystine plus amino acid.
The biochemist has found in his studies with rats that the mixture helps the rats' bodies burn up alcohol very quickly. It also slows down the passage of alcohol from the gut to the liver, he said. "If we can increase the alcohol metabolism in humans, we will have a very effective sobering-up agent."
