WASHINGTON, D.C.--The element lithium has proved useful in treating some alcoholics, a scientist reported. The test of lithium as an aid to the treatment was based on the theory that some people drink excessively because of depression. Lithium has been found to be extremely useful in treating patients with serious repetitive episodes of depression.
