Controlled Drinking? Why?

As this department noted in the March issue, The Journal (monthly newspaper of the Addiction Research Foundation of Ontario) has been running material on the controversy over the "incurable disease" concept of alcoholism. In a letter supporting this concept, Robert C. Hickle (Office of Social Counseling, Milwaukee Pacific Railroad Company, Milwaukee, Wis.) said, in part:
