'A Social Hangover'?
MOSCOW, U.S.S.R.--In its current issue, Literaturnaya Rossiya, the official publication of the Russian Republics' Writers Union and the Moscow writers organization, urged that alcoholism be confronted directly as a disease and not just as a social hangover from Czarist times, as it has often been called.
The publication pointed out that even young people born in the postwar years were becoming alcoholics and that alcoholism among Russian women was increasing faster than among men.
