VANCOUVER, B.C.--Controlled drinking, the object of heated controversy recently, is being tried for the first time in British Columbia in a program for beginning alcoholics.

The Vancouver Health Department and University of B.C. psychologists teach people skills to help them keep their drinking below limits they set themselves.
