A 41-year-old mailman from Brooklyn appealed to the five Army officers facing him to understand the circumstances that had led to his "undesirable discharge" from the Army 19 years ago.
It is a discharge that has been plaguing him ever since, he said, as he addressed the panel of colonels and lieutenant colonels in a makeshift hearing room at the World Trade Center in Manhattan.
