A Dose of Reality

My name is "Stinger," and I am an alcoholic. It is through God's grace that I am able to share my experience, strength, and hope with you today.

I grew up in an abusive alcoholic family, a real war zone. I can remember lying awake in bed, shivering with fear as my father beat my mother and ranted and raved about nothing. My mother and I used to work swing shifts as sparring partner for my father. When I heard him beating her I was thankful that it wasn't me, but still scared to death that I'd be next.
