12 Steps and 12 Traditions

The Grapevine has been publishing articles about the Steps since 1944. Its first Traditions article appeared in 1946. Today, the Grapevine and La Viña magazines run a series on the Steps and Traditions in alternate years. Traditions articles are published in years ending in even numbers, articles on the Steps appear in odd-numbered years.

Beginning with the essays here, the website will make articles about the Traditions and Steps available every month. Articles on the Steps will be taken from various past issues of the Grapevine. Articles on the Traditions will be reproduced from the first complete series of Traditions articles that Bill W. wrote. The series ran in the Grapevine between November 1948 and November 1949, four and half years before he penned the essays that now appear in Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.
