Web Exclusive: A Nun's Story
She came to believe in a God to whom she had previously given lip service when she was drinking
"I guess none of this is exceptional to AA folks except for the fact that I am a nun: an alcoholic nun. "
I was an alcoholic for the books. I drank, got drunk, had many blackouts and continued to drink. I was filled with anger, resentment, guilt and self-pity. And I continued to drink.
I guess none of this is exceptional to AA folks except for the fact that I am a nun: an alcoholic nun. On my bad days, I asked to God to "get me out of this problem and then I would lay off the booze." In my small mind, I was lying to myself. I would not know this though until years later when I got sober.
