A Late Report from Australia - News, comments and letters from and about AA's worldwide outposts and centers--gleaned from letters to the Grapevine and the General Service Office, and from the "AA Exchange Bulletin," published by the General Service Offic

The first All Australian Convention was a great success. The press in Melbourne gave wonderful coverage, the leading morning daily with a long double column leader. A talk on tape by Bill W. was part of a one hour telecast to publicize the Convention. At the open meeting on Saturday there was an overflow attendance. On Sunday, at a vast gathering at the Royal Park Hospital at Melbourne, several eminent doctors spoke, offering full support to AA. The Sunday night meeting in the City Hall saw several thousand people in attendance. At the closed Business Meeting on Monday we agreed with enthusiasm that a Service Conference for Australia and New Zealand be established. A simple constitution, guided by the Third Legacy Manual, with State representation is now being prepared.
