AA In the Far Reaches Of Canada

There are all kinds of ways to carry the message--even by speakerphone

The idea started at the Area 78 (Alberta/Northwest Territories) Fall Assembly in 1998 at the Remote Communities committee meeting. A request from a member in a small community in the Northwest Territories asked if it was possible to have a meeting over the telephone. The Mackenzie Valley Group in Norman Wells, N.W.T., was small, about three or four regular members. The only access in and out of the community is by air, boat, or ski-do. (There is also an ice road for a few months in the winter.) Bob, a member of my home group, offered to experiment with our group to see if it would work.
