Web Exclusive: Get With the Program
An old timer exhorts newcomers to do the Steps and not just go to meetings
"I've watched countless people remain in the rooms without working the program."
I have as simple question for some of our fellows: "If you're not willing to go to any length to do this deal, what are you doing here?" You've seen them. They're in the rooms of AA everywhere. We have them in my home group.
"How It Works" says that our results are nil until we let go absolutely. I've watched countless people remain in the rooms without working the program. I've watched them stay miserable. When you're in that state, if you are an alcoholic, you only have two choices: work the program to the best of your ability, or continue wallowing in misery.
