The ups and downs of the drinking life finally came to an end
I got sober through AA in 1989. I was a hardworking, hard-drinking auto technician who picked up a couple of DUIs and knew that my livelihood depended on keeping my license and that my drinking had crossed the line into full blown alcoholism. So I went to a treatment facility and learned about the Program and the 12 Steps as well as the work it would take to achieve sobriety.
I took to the whole idea of fellowship, commitment, and being 'part of' so I did what was suggested and got sober. AA taught me that there was more to life to than just existing and that the promises will come... Login to read more
