March 2014: Letter from the Editor

When we asked for stories about AA and families, we were surprised by the amount of wonderful submissions that came in. My own family was full of alcoholism, and my mother eventually found AA, so I knew exactly where to go when I wanted to stop drinking. I was lucky. And what’s even more beautiful is that AA has incredible Steps and tools to help us repair many of our relationships. In this month’s issue, members share about how both AA and alcoholism have touched their families.

In “Letting Go in Florida,” a mother learns to stay sober and not try to fix her partying children. A son who was raised in a bar reconnects with his long-lost dad in “Cartoons and Bourbon.” A sister wonders why she got the gift of AA when other family members didn’t in “Why Me and Not My Brother?” And in the cute tale “What! Another Meeting?” a newcomer tries to help his family understand AA.
