Seven Decades, 15,000 Stories

A few words from the Chairman of AA’s General Service Board

I am delighted to congratulate Grapevine for 70 years of service to the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. From the “ink-stained wretches” who produced the first issues on a single sheet of paper to today’s gifted professionals who turn out a monthly publication with four colors and 56 pages, it’s been an evolution and growth that has been extraordinary.

Credit for Grapevine’s creative longevity goes to the dedicated Grapevine staff and to all the volunteers who help to carry the AA message of hope—the enthusiastic Grapevine Reps throughout the Fellowship, the trusted servants on the AA Grapevine Corporate Board and those brainstorming members of the Editorial Advisory Board. Most especially, we extend our deepest gratitude to the members who have submitted more than 100,000 stories of experience, strength and hope expressing a wondrous depth of recovery for 70 years. More than 15,000 of these stories have been printed and can be found in the Story Archive on the Grapevine website. And we are pleased with the high volume of submissions because Grapevine is able to publish many of these on the website each week.
