The light of the stars

Standing there waiting for his ride to work, a beginner looks up at the dawn sky—and discovers in the morning stars a gift of light, awareness, and self-knowledge.

Barely sober, I stood across the street from my house at 7:15 AM, in the dark, waiting to be picked up for work. I was simply unable to get to work on time when I drove myself. My company had enough of me being late every day, not by much, maybe 5-15 minutes, but enough that I could lose my job over it. I knew, however, that I could be on time for other people, and so that is why I was out there, waiting.
